Brett is the official winner of STUDIO 42’s FAN SLAM!

This means that Brett will go in the ring against heavyweights Eric Dufault, Lauren Yee, Leah Nanako Winkler and Meghan Deans for the title of most unproducible playwright 2014!  Each of of us will write 10-minute plays that will go up on MAY 3, 2014.

Brett was chosen as one of six playwrights for April’s edition of NEW YORK MADNESS.  ‘Madness’ happens each month and each playwright is asked to write utilizing a specific theme (last month all plays had to rhyme).  April’s theme will be announced shortly; more details to come!

Brett will also be acting in March’s edition of AMERICAN NIGHTCAP at INTAR Theatre, in a new play by Jaime Wright and directed by Courtney Ulrich.  Brett plays a hilarious character named Reggie who… has a lot to say.

This month we are featuring five ten-minute plays on violence in American Nightcap: Punch Drunk.
The playwrights featured this month are Mfoniso Udofia, Teddy Nicholas, Ilana Peña, Jaime Wright, and Kara Lee Corthron.

Finally, WOMEN returns next month at the PIT!  4 Tuesday evenings in a row –> April 15 through May 6. Head over to the PIT website for info/tix.  If you’ve missed WOMEN at The Flea, Under St. Mark’s, the Kraine or HousingWorks… well… we’re back!  (Reminder: Brett plays three roles… he won’t pick favorites… but Carl… come on… Carl.  Have you seen CARL?!)

Tonight, Brett will be reading in a new work by the wonderful playwright Stephanie Swirsky, directed by the wonderful director Courtney Ulrich.

The play is a part of NEW YORK MADNESS‘s March edition.  The theme of each short play is Double Rhyming.

[[NYM brings together a slamming roster of artists to create an evening of new plays that all explore the Theme selected by the Featured Guest. The collective works by all the writers form a kaleidoscope of this cultural moment. The plays are written and presented in just ONE WEEK — hot off the press, fully staged, script in hand… “ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN A MADNESS!”

Two exciting announcements!

1) Brett’s newest play called CRISIS: OCEAN PLANET will receive a staged reading at The Flea Theatre on Thursday, March 13 at 7p.  C:OP was recently featured as part of RULE OF 10 alongside a new Rob Askins piece.  For those who missed it last time, check it out!  This reading is FREE!  (Starring Abby Rosebrock, Sean McIntyre, Olivia Stoker & myself)

2) Brett is teaming up with his favorite comedienne Abby Rosebrock for a one-night only improv show called Abby & Brett: 3-Act Play!  That’s right, Brett & Abby are improvising an entire three-act play and they can’t wait.  The show is Saturday, March 15th at 9:30p.  Tix are $8 in advance (here) and will be $10 at the door.
